Woodcarving in the Austrian Lech-valley has been a tradition for many centuries. The extraordinary artistic abilities of the people here in the Lech-valley has been lovingly passed on for generations by the families.
All our artisians attended the famous woodcarving-school here in Elbigenalp. Our master, Ferdinand Walch with his 40 years of experience, constantly designs new projects and points out that ... " ... only talent is not enough, also you need experience, hard-working and the will to learn and create always new projects with inspiration..."
Our favorit wood to work with is the "Zirben-wood", which is a certain kind of cembra-pine here in the tyrolean alps. We store and dry the pine up to 7 years, and every hand-carved figure keeps this special, pleasent smell from the cembra-pine over centuries.
